It functions as a research and reference herbarium that supports the organization&amp;rsquo;s long-term conservation, ecological, and educational work focused on gorillas and the forests they depend on.&#13;
The herbarium houses carefully curated plant specimens collected primarily from montane, sub-montane, and Afro-alpine ecosystems within key gorilla landscapes, including the Virunga Massif and surrounding protected areas.
